History

of Park Village Pines

Representatives of a number of churches of the Reformed faith in the area initiate the effort to form an Association to seek members from area churches of the Reformed faith that will support the establishment of a Christian retirement home in Kalamazoo.

1979

The Kalamazoo Area Christian Retirement Association (KACRA) purchases Park Village Pines, a retirement community built in 1979.

1983

25 acres bordering the west end of our campus was purchased.

1994

Park Village Pines begins to broaden its scope of service from being a retirement home to an assisted living facility providing care for all seniors of the Kalamazoo area.

1990s

Crystal Woods, a 20-room memory care community was opened on the southeast edge of our campus property.

2000

A 20-room addition on the west side of the original Park Village Pines was opened which featured larger rooms and two suites.

2005

Oakview Terrace, a state-of-the-art residential community of 30 beds offering specialized care which connected Park Village Pines and Crystal Woods, was opened on the northeast edge of our property.

2011

A nearly $2 million renovation was completed at Park Village Pines. Updates were made to the flooring, lighting, and electrical wiring. Renovations were made to our hallways, residential rooms, kitchen, and a new front lobby transforming many areas that needed refreshing.

2018

PVP’s original building underwent a complete renovation, new led lighting, spa room, a more open main entrance, major kitchen upgrade and complete room renovations.

2019

Park Village Pines opens the second floor for independent living!
